New Crows Nest wine bar and diner Knird – “drink”, spelt backwards – is in the business of good wine, served with sincerity. Having worked in hospitality before launching into a lengthy career in wine sales, owner Andrew Day has been dreaming of a place that gives equal footing to its service and its wine.
“The whole idea of Knird was to be part of a community,” he tells Broadsheet. “Because we’re not a reservation-driven venue, it’s all about fluidity; being able to come in for a glass of wine and then move on.
“People tend to have wine up on a pedestal where it doesn’t belong. Wine is a drink. It can be cheap and fantastic, and it can be expensive and horrible.”
Combining beers, cocktails and wine with Asian-inspired tapas-style menu, Donny’s Bar has been part of a renaissance of sorts for laneways around Manly.
Spread over two floors, Donny’s bar has quickly become a favoured haunt for locals and visitors alike. Designed by the famed Luchetti Krelle, Keedah was responsible for transforming designs into reality.
Keedah’s joinery and fit-out skills combined to bring together materials including railway sleepers, exposed copper piping and brick walls to create a relaxed, warm New York-loft inspired experience making this a very proud commercial fit out for the Keedah team.
Biru Biru is Sydney’s first Japanese beer bar. Their menu combines a range of boutique Japanese beers with delicious Japanese food, including sushi. As the first of their kind in Sydney, Biru Biru needed a space in which to house their unique offering.
Keedah provided a high-quality beer bar construction and fit-out for Biru Biru’s stylish Darlinghurst location. Capturing the aesthetic of traditional Japanese beer houses, our high-end joinery work of extensive wood panelling provides a warm and intimate environment for this bustling bar and restaurant.
