Choosing your Builder
Choosing your preferred builder can be a stressful undertaking so KEEDAH has provided a checklist of key considerations when selecting your builder:
/ Assess all tenders (quotes) received and match up scope versus price to ensure each builder is pricing the same.
NOTE: The tender assessment stage is where a large % of your decision on what builder to go with will be made. It is extremely important that you understand each tender in detail and that you are comparing apples with apples. Once you are comfortable with a price you have received, you should then at a minimum cover off the below.
/ Ensure you have met with the first choice builder and feel comfortable with their service & company set-up. It’s imperative you feel comfortable with the builder or company you are about to engage and work with. Building a strong relationship and certain level of trust will make the building process less stressful and easier to manage.
/ Ensure they have a valid contracting license
/ Understand how your builder operates & manages their job sites. You want to know:
- Will I have the same main point of contact throughout the project duration?
- Will the builder complete works to their proposed construction schedule?
- How often will site meetings be required?
- Clear outline of client and builders responsibilities & duties
/ Ask for previous client referrals & potentially site visits, showcasing their work
